How we check places
Every listing shows where its details came from and the date we last checked. We never guess.
We use, in this order: the venue's own website (its accessibility, autism or relaxed sessions page); an email reply from the venue; and official bodies or published guides. Blogs and social media posts help us find places, but we always check the details with the venue's own information.
Listings are marked From the venue's own website, Confirmed with the venue by email, or From a published guide. Where a detail isn't published, the listing says Not confirmed yet.
Relaxed session dates change often. Event listings show the dates the venue published, and we mark them when they have passed.
Autism Friendly UK is an independent guide, not an accreditation scheme. We don't award "autism friendly" status; we report what each place offers so you can decide what suits you. We mention official schemes, such as the National Autistic Society's Autism Friendly Award (its newer scheme is the Neuroinclusive Access Award) or the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, only where a venue itself says it takes part.
We don't give medical or diagnostic advice. For support and information about autism, the National Autistic Society is a good place to start.
